Samsung SCH-i760 Phone

Samsung, a humble South Korean company founded in 1938, has successfully entrenched itself as a benchmark not only in home appliance but also in the mobile phone technology. In Barcelona, at the 3GSM World Congress, Samsung unveils an array of mobile phones in various designs and attractive features. However, most of the phones will cater to the European and American market and one of those is the SCH-i760.

It is an advanced pocket PC with QWERTY that gives a business-oriented appeal minus the stylus. This black wonder phone is lightweight and very thin. It’s dimension is 4.5” x 2” x 0.75”. The phone is a 3G model class in a slide-up form with a large navigation key, its numerical keypad is on top and the QWERTY on the bottom.

This touchscreen gadget is a GPRS/GSM/EDGE triband and sports a 520 MHz Intel processor. It has an MP3 player and a 1.3 megapixel camera with video capture, another camera is for video calling , a 2.8’ QVGA (240×320 pixels) display in portrait and landscape modes. It is also glazed by Bluetooth V2.0 and A2DP and 1x/EVDO/WiFi features. The phone carries a 28 flash ROM, 64 MB RAM and a slot for microSD cards. Rumors revealed that the gadget will run on Windows Mobile 6 Crossbow which means enhanced Microsoft Office applications, Windows media player and Outlook. It’s taskbar would show the time, the connectivity status and the volume. The Start Button is the main feature of the taskbar which is similar to Windows desktop.

The SCH-i760 has passed the Federal Communications Commission and has been making rounds all over the United States for the last several months. It is expected to be released sometime in 2007 for Verizon Wireless but the pricing details has yet to be determined. Verizon Wireless is an American company that is the largest wireless data provider.
