There’s quite a while when HDTV and BluRay compete to introduce themselves as the best carrier to serve best quality (movie) media. For you who feels building your own HD home theater is complicated, you might want to have another option, play it in a PC, i’ll cover Windows PC in this post.
Obviously, to play these kind of media format, you have to fulfill several requirements, as it is a very big enhance in quality and capacity, both software and hardware prerequisites are required.
Hardware Part:
1. You need HDTV - BluRay drives in your PC. This drive has slowly begin to attach in the market now, but unfortunately i can’t recommend any of them now. this is optional because sometimes you can get HDTV media files downloadable or some other way.
2. Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
3.Graphics card, driver and monitor have to be HDCP compatible
4.Dual-core processor + 256 MB graphics card
More detail explanation and also a program to test whether your current PC is capable of playing these media can be found here.
Software Part :
Generally what you need is a Media Player (Zoom Player, WM player Classic), Audio and Video decoder, and optionally media splitter (if you get the files not from HDTV - Bluray Disc). More detail on software part are covered here.
