Neo 1973 for Linux Geek

Do you hate the hype of new Apple’s iPhone? If you do so, especially if you are techie geek, you must want to have the alternative. Well, maybe such a thing can be found at Neo 1973. This phone is powered with OpenMoko Linux. OpenMoko is claimed as the world’s first integrated open source mobile communications platform. It is 120.7 x 62 x 18.5 mm in size and has 2.8 inch TFT screen display. It works in Quad Band GSM and can be used in USA. It does not come with 3G or EDGE, although equipped with GPRS connectivity. Also available Bluetooth and USB 1.1 cable for connectivity to other appliances.

It is based on Samsung 400 MHz (updated from previous 266 MHz) system-on-chip application processor with an ARM9 core. It will have 128 MB of RAM with internal 256 MB flash, completed with upgradable 64 MB MicroSD card. The killer features in this phone are integrated 802.11b/g Wireless connectivity, 3D accelerometer, and Assisted GPS (A-GPS) receiver module connected to application processor.

It will come first to deliver for developer in two package. First is Neo Base, with $300, comes in basic package. The second is Neo Advanced. The package price is $450 and comes with Debugging package for mobile hacker experts. For customer, it will be available in October in $450 and $600, depends on configuration. The development is made in China.

    I never got into this ‘i’ kick, iphones, ipod etc lol
    I am ready for the alternative, they got enough business :P
    What I am waiting for is not pda technology but wireless technology, I can get internet nearly everywhere but not everywhere. I am waiting for that time…. :P
